The Craft Tee Athletics Summer Hangout is a sports and enrichment program for children aged 5-16, offering a healthy and safe play environment. Older youth, aged 17-21, provide mentoring and workforce development skills that can lead to career certifications or educational advancement.
The program predominantly serves Pontiac students, offering six weeks of summer employment to provide income in the impoverished area. It aims to foster community through a “each one teach one” concept, and healthy nutritional food is served daily. Despite being youth-operated, adult supervision will mentor youth workers for certifications. Topics like bullying, vaping, and literacy are addressed weekly to reduce juvenile delinquency.
Educational and recreational field trips are included for a worthwhile summer experience. The program looks forward to a great summer of 2025.
